About the Event

Family Engagement Workshop: Puppetry

April 20th, 3:30-5:30pm

For families with children ages 6-12

FREE

Come join us for an afternoon of exploring native insects and making your very own flying insect puppets to take home! This special workshop will offer families a chance to create and play together. Children and guardians will have an opportunity to build their own butterfly puppets, learn about native insects, AND get a sneak peak at the large scale puppets used in the upcoming production of The Monarch Report. Note: While the production itself is not intended for young audiences, we're excited to extend the craft, joy, and knowledge of puppetry and native insects to families with young children through this workshop!

About the Artists: This class will be led by Andrew Murdock and Gabrielle Schutz. Andrew is an interdisciplinary artist and educator with over 10-years of teaching experience. His classes often incorporate methods of puppetry, animation and video. Gabrielle is an interdiscplinary artist and educator with broad experience teaching movement/devised theatre/puppetry to all ages and experience (from NYC K-12 programs to college/university appointments). Their teaching, across all environments and experience, is centered on collaboration and curiosity.

We hope you'll come explore with us!

Please RSVP with the number of family members attending, and don't hesitate to reach out to info@upperjayartcenter.org with any questions.

This workshop is made possible in part by Stewart's Shops Holiday Match Grant. You can learn more at www.stewartsshopscom/community-giving
