About the Event
Join us for a workshop of Vocal Experiments, created and led by Gabrielle Schutz. We'll work together to explore our range of vocal expression. We'll use various vocal techniques (including Viewpoints, Michael Chekhov, improvisation, etc.) to explore the voice at its most fundamental and extreme; from breath to booming. How we'll work: We'll break down speaking into its most basic properties through exercises, learn a shared vocabulary of the voice to begin experimenting, and then apply what we've discovered to learned text and improvised dialogue for deeper experimentation. No specific experience is required. This workshop should be equally exciting for those simply wanting to gain confidence with public speaking, and seasoned performers looking to expand their control of the voice as a physical, expressive instrument. Let's make some noise!
Who is it for?
Performers of all levels who want to expand their "choice-making" toolbox
Anyone wanting to gain confidence and nuance in public speaking
Improvisers, actors, storytellers, singers, teachers, instructors, and presenters of all kinds
Those wanting to feel more connected to their voice
What do I need to prepare?
I ask that you come with 8-10 lines of consecutive text (theatrical, technical, presentational, ANY text that is relevant to your goals). Having the text memorized will open up what you'll be able to explore during the workshop but is not required and coming with the text in a physical form (printed/written) that you can mark up is also great.
Please RSVP below. This workshop is pay-what-you-wish at the time of the workshop.
