ABOUT THE PLAY

Hailed as “brave and heroic,” artist Richard Lipsky successfully presents his disturbingly misogynistic wood sculptures called “Floaters” to the New York art scene as an emerging female artist. Encouraged to come clean and stop playing games by his new crush, Rachael, a transfeminine performance artist, the play Floaters is a journey into the hierarchies of art, identity, and power.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

Before relocating to Upper Jay, Scott worked for decades as a theater artist in New York City, performing off-off Broadway, off-Broadway, and most notably on-Broadway in Eugene O’Neill’s play, The Hairy Ape, with The Wooster Group under the direction of Elizabeth LeCompte. As the Artistic Director of The Upper Jay Art Center, Scott directed & designed over 25 stage productions, collaborating with non professional actors from the Adirondack community. As a playwright, his work has been read and performed in New York City and elsewhere. He is particularly sentimental about the Recovery Lounge production of “Nick (A Christmas Pageant).” He wrote, directed, and designed the 23 character project, and performed the title role of Nick Nolte who partied hard with the folks at 20 Main in Ausable Forks.
